New Islington

On this new build Manchester City Centre Apartment Building, the contractor opted for a pioneering construction method that they believe will replace the portal steel framework and timber frame structures.

Its construction consists of fibreboard shuttering fixed together with light weight steel studding, with concrete poured into the shuttering to create a solid concrete structure finished with external brick face-work.

The scaffolding was erected in its entirety as with a portal steel or timber framed structure but special consideration had to be made to the tying method due to the time required for the concrete to cure.

With experienced operatives and dedicated design engineer assistance, this project went incredibly well and we were privileged to be involved in a process never before tried in the UK.
